On 27th March 2024 over 160 Comhairle na nÓg members across Ireland attended Dail na nÓg in Dáil Éireann, among them some of our very own Leitrim Comhairle members!
The day was filled with debates, discussions and valuable conversations on topics that affect young people, that need government attention.
This year the chosen topic was mental health with issues such as Mental health services, Body image and School stress highlighted. School stress was selected as the topic to focus on over the next two years. Minister Mary Buttler was present to listen to the young people’s recommendations to the mental health topic and Simon Harris also dropped in to visit the young people.
Huge congratulations to the Leitrim Comhairle and the 5 representatives (Brianna Faughnan, Robyn Lehany Fee, Aoibhe Higgins, Ciara Knight, Roisin Grier) for their invaluable attendance and significant contributions at Dáil na nÓg. Their dedication to representing the voices of young people on mental health issues is commendable!
Shoutout to our Leitrim Coordinator Hannah Flynn for organising their attendance and accompanying them to this amazing event 🙂
