What is DiscoverEU?
DiscoverEU is linked to the Erasmus+ programme and offers young people aged 18 years the chance to explore Europe by train. This is a great way to learn about European cultural heritage and history, connect with people from all over the continent and develop important life skills along the way like independence, confidence and openness to other cultures.
Eligibility
- Successful applicants will receive a free interrail travel pass(!) allowing them to go interrailing across Europe for one month during the permitted travel window.
- You can go solo or add up to 4 friends in your group provided they meet the eligibility conditions above.
- You apply during the two application rounds taking place each year. Next application round is open 2nd October -16th October 2024.
- Young people born between be born between 1 January 2006 (included) and 31 December 2006 (included)
- If successful, you can travel for a minimum of 1 day and up to 30 days between 1 March 2025 and 31 May 2026.
Free Return Flight Included: Successful applicants who live in Ireland can also receive a free return flight from Ireland to any destination on the Continent of Europe. Afterwards, young people are required to travel by rail on mainland Europe. NB: These applicants must not book their flights, as the travel agency contracted by the European Commission will take care of their plane tickets.
